Flights over Greenland and the Atlantic Ocean

I fell in love with Greenland last year (2004) on my return flight from Fairbanks, Alaska to Frankfurt in Germany. A wonderful landscape with smooth hills, cliffs, glaciers and turqoise seawater under the midnight sun unfolded 11 kilometers below me... I was touched when I finally discovered the bays and inlets I have seen from the plane in images from the MODIS satellite after a few hours of trying to match them with my photos, without knowing my location and the scale what to look for.

In 2001 I photographed a green curtain of Northern Lights near Greenland on my first long-distance flight. It was beautiful and could not understand that people could just sleep or stare at their laptop screen even while they sat near a window!
